Unholy Death Knight Stats, Races and Consumables Guide

Stats will always vary and change based on your gear, as stats can lose a lot of value once you reach a certain threshold. The best way to ensure you are using the best gear is to use Raidbots and check via the Top Gear and Stat Weights options. You can learn how to sim your character by going to the ‘How to Sim Your Character’ section at the end of this guide.

Single Target: Strength > Haste > Mastery > Crit > Versatility

AoE: Strength > Mastery > Crit > Haste > Versatility

Stat Summary

Strength - As with most classes in Dragonflight, the primary stat is always the best. It's a simple, straightforward throughput increase to every aspect of Unholy Death Knight.

Mastery - This increases your Shadow damage and the damage of your Minions. Most of Unholy Death Knight's damage comes from Minions, which makes Mastery your best secondary stat. It also scales very well in AOE, as most of your AOE abilities do Shadow damage.

Haste - Haste is going to be your main focus when it comes to secondary stats in single target, mainly due to Summon Gargoyle. There will be breakpoints where your Summon Gargoyle damage will heavily spike up, but an ideal starting point would be 20.00%. Make sure to keep checking your Stat Weights and Top Gear to have the most optimal level of Haste. In aoe and cleave, Haste is not as valuable as Mastery and, in some cases, even Crit, but you will still want a decent amount.

Crit - As mentioned before, Crit is not as valuable as Haste and Mastery for single target, so it should not be that sought after. However, when you are in cleave/aoe scenarios, Crit will pull ahead of Haste and will be more of a priority, of course, once you have a sufficient amount of Haste for aoe. Again make sure to check your Stat Weights and Top Gear.

Versatility - Quite a boring stat; honestly, it just gives you a flat damage increase and some mitigation. It doesn't interact with the Unholy Death Knight kit and is usually just a last resort stat to pick up.

The races are not a massive throughput gain, sometimes they are, but generally, the gain is not that big for playing ‘the best race.’ For the most part, play whatever Race you want; however, the Races listed here are the best if you want the best possible throughput.

Horde - Troll / Orc

Alliance - Mechagnome / Human

Troll: Army of the Dead scales exceptionally well with haste. This makes the Troll racial ability Berserking very potent when used in conjunction with Summon Gargoyle & Army of the Dead.

Orc: Provides a decent Attack Power cooldown with Blood Fury, which you want to use during Summon Gargoyle if you are using this talent. If you are not using Summon Gargoyle, you should use it with your other cooldowns such as Dark Transformation or Abomination Limb. Orc also buffs the damage of all of your minions by 1% with their passive racial (Command).

Mechagnome: Primary stat (Strength) is the best stat for Unholy Death Knight, so gaining +180 strength after the first 50 seconds of a fight with Combat Analysis is very strong, making Mechagnome one of the best races.

Human: Humans are generally a solid option for all classes in the game, providing an additional 2% to all secondary stats with their racial The Human Spirit. This makes Humans a very good race for Unholy Death Knights.

Gems and Ring enchants heavily depend on your current stat weights and will often fluctuate depending on your current gear. I will list the enchants and gems you will generally want to use, but you should always check on Raidbots to see which are currently the most valuable for you.

General Enchants/Kits:

• Cloak: Graceful Avoidance
• Chest: Waking Stats
• Wrist: Devotion of Avoidance
• Belt: Shadowed Belt Clasp
• Legs: Fierce Armor Kit
• Boots: Plainrunner’s Breeze
• Weapon: Rune of the Fallen Crusader - Death Knight Runeforges are better than Dragonflight Weapon Enchants, and for Unholy, this Runeword is the best in both Single target and AOE situations

Ring Enchants:

• Enchant Ring - Devotion of Haste - +82 Haste
• Enchant Ring - Devotion of Mastery - +82 Mastery
• Enchant Ring - Devotion of Critical Strike - +82 Crit

Primalist Gems

These are very strong gems that you are able to use one of.

• Fierce Illimited Diamond - +75 Primary Stat & +66 Haste
• Skillful Illimited Diamond - +75 Primary Stat & +66 Mastery
• Inscribed Illimited Diamond - +75 Primary Stat & +Crit

Gems

• Keen Ysemerald - +70 Haste & +33 Mastery
• Sensei’s Neltharite - +70 Mastery & +33 Crit
• Keen Neltharite - +70 Mastery & + 33 Haste

Food: The best food comes from a Grand Banquet of Kalu’ak, which will give you +76 Strength; however, these are usually placed down for an entire raid or party as they can be pretty expensive. So if you want your own food, you can eat Sizzled Seafood Medley for a +45 Haste & Mastery buff.

Phials: Iced Phial of Corrupted Rage

Weapon Buff: Howling Rune / Hissing Rune / Buzzing Rune (depending on stats situation)

Combat Potion: Elemental Potion of Ultimate Power / Fleeting Elemental Potion of Ultimate Power (both are the same)

Other Consumables: Dreamwalker's Healing Potion & Draconic Augment Rune
