Stat Priorities
Stat Ranking
Single Target: Strength > Haste > Crit > Mastery >= Versatility
AoE: Strength > Haste > Crit > Versatility >= Mastery
Stat Outline
Mastery: Applies a DoT that increases the damage targets take from you by a %. This % increases with Mastery rating.
Haste: Lowers GCD and reduces the cooldown of Mortal Strike, Skullsplitter and Cleave.
Crit: Gives a % chance to deal double the damage with an ability when used. Critical auto-attacks also generate 30% more Rage.
Versatility: Direct damage done increase and damage taken reduction.
The best way to calculate stat priorities for your character is to "sim" your character. Method Raider Jaerv has written a series of Metafy articles to help!
How to Sim in World of WarcraftRaces
Horde: Tauren
Alliance: Dwarf
For the most part, choice of race is the least important factor to your DPS. Historically for Warrior, most races are within 1% DPS of each other. Unless you are competing at the absolute top level, changing race is usually unnecessary.
Enchants
Cloak: Graceful Avoidance
Chest: Waking Stats
Bracers: Avoidance
Legs: Fierce Armor Kit
Boots: Watcher’s Loam
Ring: Crit/Haste (decision to be made by your current stats on gear)
Weapons: Enchant Weapon - Wafting Devotion
As always, it is best to sim your character to find the enchants you should be using.
Gems
Gems have been changed to now include 2 stats in each gem as well as the reintroduction of Primary Stat gems. Only 1 primary stat gem can be used but it does carry the most significance.
Gems you should be using will regularly change based on your gear at the time. I recommend using a simulation tool like Raidbots in order to use the best gems possible.
As a basic framework:
Single Target:
- Primary Gem: Strength + Haste
- Other Gems: Haste + Crit
AoE/M+
- Primary Gem: Strength + Haste
- Other Gems: Haste + Crit
Consumables
Similar to Gems, personal food has also been changed to provide 2 stats with 1 piece of food. Feasts still only provide primary stat.
Food: Feisty Fish Sticks
Weapon rune/stone: Howling Rune
Phial: Phial of Tepid Versatility / Iced Phial of Corrupting Rage
Note: If using the Corrupting Rage phial, it is advised to get enough points in the Alchemy profession to get the Alchemical Theory specialisation. From there, 5 points in Alchemical Theory and 30 points in Decayology will reduce the amount of damage you take from this flask by 50%.
