Gear
Tier Set
- 2-piece: When you attack a target afflicted by Sigil of Flame, your damage and healing are increased by 2% and your Stamina is increased by 2% for 8 sec, stacking up to 5.
- 4-piece: Sigil of Flame's periodic damage has a chance to flare up, shattering an additional Soul Fragment from a target and dealing fire damage. Each 40 Fury you spend reduces its cooldown by 1.0 sec.
The new 2-piece is relatively boring, almost completely passive. But it is decently strong. There is not a lot worth mentioning about it.
The new 4-piece is interesting, the cooldown reduction makes it decently potent in raid, since Sigil of Flame deals good damage after the buffs to it. In Mythic+ the soul generation becomes very potent, making Sigil of Flame an incredibly strong ability.
Notable Gear
There is one item you want to keep an eye out for as a Vengeance Demon Hunter beyond trinkets this season. Double Time from Dawn of the Infinites is a very good weapon with the special Timestrike stat, giving your damage a chance to echo for even more damage.
You will want at least one of these for your off-hand, and a max item level version from the Great Vault is very likely to be the best weapon available to you in the 10.2 patch.
Gear can easily be upgraded up to as high as 483 this season, my recommendation is to prioritize high value items like Double Time, or trinkets mentioned below. After that you simply want Hero gear to upgrade to item level 483, since item level is your best value over any specific stat.
Vengeance Demon Hunter Best in Slot Gear
You should still prioritise the gear you use by running a sim for your character, but the lists below will give you a good idea of what items are considered good for Vengeance Demon Hunter, and help you target the right content for each piece of loot.
Worth noting that as a tank, most items on this list will only be your best option defensively if they are the highest item level piece available for you.

Embellishments
My week one recommendation is the craft Slimy Expulsion Boots, especially if you had the chance to craft an item in 10.1 with a Toxified Armor Patch.
After that you should either craft a new or recraft an old item that has a Toxified armor patch. Right now the best slot to craft on is bracers, however crafting it in the belt slot is not that far behind.
Once you have gotten more gear and sockets on most of your item slots you can switch out the item with the Toxified armor patch for an Elemental Lariat.
Trinkets
There are a handful of potentially strong trinkets from Amirdrassil, as well as a few contenders from the new Mythic+ season.
Prophetic Stonescales is a trinket from the Dawn of the Infinites. This trinket offers a cheat death effect on an 8-minute cooldown that will heal for a significant amount any time where you would have died, as well as reducing damage enemies deal to you by 20% and granting a large amount of haste for 12 seconds. This trinket is a decent option defensively, especially for hard content since it lets you have a cheat death effect without talenting into Last Resort.
Cataclysmic Signet Brand is a very potent damage trinket that drops from Smolderon in Amirdrassil. A stacking trinket that deals Fire damage to your target. In Mythic+ you have to make sure not to stay out of combat for extended periods of time as you will lose all your stacks and most of the damage potential.
Accelerating Sandglass is a trinket from the Dawn of the Infinites. Building stacks of haste until you reach 8 stacks, where you deal damage to your target and start building up new stacks. Relatively passive, but very strong.
